Oklahoma Pending Transaction Update

If you have Oklahoma transactions entered after 12/01/2006 which are still pending, we have received this information from NIPR:

Oklahoma 7 Digit License Number Change

Effective December 2006, the Oklahoma Insurance Department (OID) started issuing a 7 field license number.  The first number or letter of your license has always represented the type of license issued, and the following fields are numeric with the second field equaling a zero.  OID, up until December 2006, opted to omit the zero following the type code.  For example:

  • If your license was issued prior to December 2006, the license number would have printed as A 00345, omitting the zero following the A000345.
  • If you license was issued prior to December 2006, the license number would have printed as R 00001, omitting the zero following the R000001
  • If your license was issued prior to December 2006, the license number would have printed as 1 12345, omitting the zero following the 1012345.

Now a 7 field license number is required in order to not issue duplicate license numbers. All existing licenses up for renewal and new licenses will reflect a 7 field license number.  The renewals will reflect the added zero(s) in the second field of the license and the new licenses will reflect either a 1 or 2 in the second field of the license.  OID and NIPR have been working to facilitate the new numbering system, which may be why lookups on OIDís website or NIPRís information system (PDB) have been unsuccessful.

OID and NIPR are working towards getting pending gateway transactions from December 2006 till now processed and analyze any erroneous declines due to incorrect license number.  Company licensing and appointment data may not be displaying completely on PDB for the state of Oklahoma.  The NIPR and OID are diligently working together to resolve this issue and hope to have it rectified as soon as possible. The NIPR and Oklahoma Insurance Department apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you or your business entity.

What license number to submit for Gateway transactions:

Scenario 1: If your license was issued on or after 12/1/06, you will now have a 7 digit license number.

Scenario 2: If your license was renewed after 12/1/06, you will now have a 7 digit license number.

Scenario 3: If your license was issued prior to 12/1/06 and you have not renewed as of 12/1/06, you will keep your 6 digit license number until your license is renewed.

For scenarios 1 and 3, PDB currently reflects the correct license number. For scenario 2, PDB will reflect the correct license number on Monday 1/15/06.

Effective date of the appointment or termination will stand as the date the state processes the transaction.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to update our system and processes.
